I love love shooting autumn weddings. I love the change of season – the hint of summer fading away and a cooler feel to the air. I love the leaves beginning to fall from the trees and swirling around, piling up in corners and the colour of the trees as they change. Sophie and Richard asked me to shoot their wedding at Stockport where Sophie comes from. I started the day at Sophie’s mum Margaret’s house where there was so much laughter and excitement. Sophie opened cards and gifts from Richard with her mum and bridesmaids looking on. After the ceremony we went on to Sophie’s grandma’s house where the stunning teepee’s from PapaKata were pitched.
The teepee’s were full of the most gorgeous decoration – a fabulous eclectic mix of lanterns, gingham ribbon, small wooden birds, lace, jam jars filled with country style flowers, dahlia, peony, hydrangea and roses.Fiona Hogg produced stunning bouquets for the girls in pastel pinks with a gorgeous vintage feel and cream ribbons.
The garden buildings were beautiful and had painted wooden doors. I love painted wooden doors!!! There was a spot with old watering cans and an old garden roller and a lovely pocket of light – I thought it was perfect for an autumnal portrait of Sophie.
Guest had a great time in the teepee’s with a bar and guest book, a sweet shop. There were game cards on all the tables and fake moustaches in fact all kind of quirky , lovely things and each guest had their very own iced cupcake.
