Sally and Neil are married!!!! Many Many Congratulations!
I have really enjoyed getting to know Sally and Neil – they are just two of life’s lovely people and whenever we meet we always end up roaring with laughter! So I was really excited when I woke up last Saturday (30th May) with the sun pouring into my room and the temperature already high. A perfect day for a wedding.
Sally and Neil chose to hold their wedding at the sweet little chapel St Mary’s at Sledmere House, which is between York and Bridlington. Sledmere House is a simply stunning place for a wedding with sweeping views, a lake, a rose garden, a gorgeous fountain and miniature maze garden. Sally and Neil knew it would be the perfect place for their wedding because Neil used to accompany his father to work there when he was a boy and he has lovely memories of playing in the huge grounds.
Sally got ready at The Hilton Hotel in York, so I popped down there on my to Sledmere House and shot some of my favourite storybuilding detail shots.
There was one very important person missing from the wedding and that was Sally’s mum, Susan, who very sadly passed away. The vicar mentioned that Susan was still very much with us on this day and that her love was still there. I certainly felt that – with the words spoken about her on the day, in church and during the speeches and the little memorial pins everyone wore. The little silver locket in the picture above was given to Sally by her mum and the inscrition reads ” with you today and always”.

Sally and Neil left for their wedding reception held at The Hilton Hotel in York. This is right in the heart of York city and by the historic Cliffords Tower. This is them leaving by helicopter for York!!! V. glamorous right?
Neil is a fireman and he told me thats all he’s ever wanted to do. So… right by Cliffords tower in York there is York’s fire station and I just had had had to take some photographs of these two with it! They indulged me!! This isnt Neil’s fire station but it was still fun to shoot pictures here and one of the guys inside turned on the siren and lights halfway through and made Sally jump!!
So that is some of the story of Sally and Neils wedding day and just a few of the hundreds of wedding photographs taken on the day! Their wedding was memorable and lovely and:
